Indian citizens do not require a passport or visa to travel to Nepal. A valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar card, voter ID, or driving license) is sufficient. However, we recommend carrying your Aadhaar card for smooth border crossing at Sonauli/Raxaul.
Nepal uses the Nepali Rupee (NPR). Indian Rupees are widely accepted in Nepal at major sites. The exchange rate is approximately 1 INR = 1.6 NPR. Currency exchange counters are available at the border and in major cities. Indian UPI/cards are not widely accepted, so carry sufficient cash.
