Ayodhya — the eternal city of Lord Ram — has been transformed in recent years into one of India's most spectacular pilgrimage destinations. With the consecration of the grand Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir on January 22, 2024, Ayodhya has entered a new era, drawing millions of devotees from across the country and the world. Our Nepal Darshan Yatra begins its spiritual journey right here in this sacred city.

"Ayodhya is not just a city — it is Lord Ram himself made manifest. Every lane, every ghat, every temple breathes the name Ram."

Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir — The Crown of Ayodhya

The newly consecrated Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is a masterpiece of Nagara-style architecture, built in pink Rajasthani sandstone over an area of 2.7 acres. The main sanctum (garbhagriha) houses the magnificent idol of Ram Lalla — a divine child form of Lord Ram — which was consecrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of hundreds of saints and dignitaries. The temple complex includes 3 floors, 44 doors, 392 pillars, and ceilings adorned with scenes from the Ramayana.

The experience of darshan at Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir is unlike any other — the air vibrates with "Jai Shri Ram" chants, the fragrance of flowers and incense fills every corner, and the glow of the idol in the sanctum moves even the most composed devotee to tears of devotion.

Hanuman Garhi — The Sentinel of Ayodhya

Perched atop a 76-step climb is the Hanuman Garhi temple — home to a magnificent idol of Hanuman Ji watching over Ayodhya. According to tradition, Hanuman Ji resides here to protect Lord Ram's birthplace. The view from the top of the temple over the city of Ayodhya is spectacular. This temple is typically visited before going to Ram Janmabhoomi, as devotees seek Hanuman Ji's permission and blessings first.

Saryu Ghat — Aarti at the Sacred River

The Saryu River aarti at Ram ki Paidi (the main ghat complex) is one of the most spiritually uplifting experiences in Ayodhya. The evening aarti, conducted by priests simultaneously on multiple platforms, lights up the river with flames and fills the air with devotional hymns. This is especially beautiful after the new Ayodhya development — the ghat has been renovated into a 750-metre promenade with beautiful lighting and seating.

Other Must-Visit Sites in Ayodhya

  • Kanak Bhawan: Beautiful temple where Ram and Sita's golden idols reside — a gift from Queen Kaikeyi to Sita on their wedding.
  • Nageshwarnath Temple: One of Ayodhya's oldest temples, dedicated to Lord Shiva — said to have been established by Kush, son of Ram.
  • Dasharath Mahal: The palace of King Dasharatha — Ram's father — with ancient history and beautiful architecture.
  • Treta Ke Thakur: Site where Ram performed the Ashwamedha Yagna — black stone idols of Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman and others.
  • Ram ki Paidi: The main bathing ghat complex — 750 metres of marble ghat with stunning views and the Saryu aarti.

Ayodhya on Our Nepal Darshan Yatra

Ayodhya is the first and most important stop on our Nepal Darshan Yatra. We arrive in Ayodhya on Day 1, visit all the major temples and ghats, attend the Saryu aarti, and then continue our journey towards Nepal. The combination of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir and Lumbini's Buddha birthplace makes this tour a uniquely powerful interfaith pilgrimage experience.
